God Loves You

Do you believe that God loves you? I mean that He really, really loves you? Not just in a generic way, but in an intense, deeply personal way. God wants you to know, and believe, and feel, and see that He loves you. My goal in this article is to convince and persuade you beyond the shadow of a doubt that God loves you with a love so profound it’s beyond your comprehension. I promise that when you believe in and experience God’s love, it will change you forever!

Proof of God’s love for You:

  1. God Is Love

First and foremost, God IS love. That’s who He is.

1 John 4:7-8, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

God’s great love for us flows out of His character. When He looks at you, loves flows out of Him toward you because God is love.

  1. God Loves You Because He Created You

Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

You are not an accident. God himself created you, fearfully and wonderfully crafting every facet of your being. Every fibre of your DNA is the result of God’s master craftsmanship, and because he created you, He treasures you.

Have you ever created something and been absolutely thrilled with the results? That’s how God feels about you. He created you in his image. When he looks at you, he sees something of himself, and it fills him with joy.

After God created Adam, God looked at him and said, “Very good.” God says the same thing when he looks at you. You are his creation and he looks on you with great joy.

The very fact that God created you in His image is proof of God’s love for you.

  1. Jesus Died For You As Proof Of God’s Love

What is the greatest way you can prove you love someone? By sacrificing for them. And what is the greatest sacrifice a person can make for another? Giving up his life for them.

That is exactly what God did for you.

John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

Do you want unshakeable, unmistakable, unbreakable proof that the love of God? Look no further than Jesus dying for you on the cross. On that bloody, splintered cross, God himself died for you.

In John 3:16, we read this amazing Bible verse about God’s love:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

God. Died. For. You.

Ponder the enormity of those words. The Immortal One submitted to death. The Giver of Life allowed himself to be swallowed by darkness. The King of Kings was humiliated. For you.

The love of God for you is greater than you could possibly imagine. God’s love for you is so extravagant that he willingly sacrificed his son to save you.

Romans 5:7-8 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God sent His son into the world to save sinners! Not people who have their life together. Not those who have done all the right things and made all the right choices. Jesus willingly went to the cross for you. Why? Because God’s love for you is so very, very strong.

  1. God Adopted You Into His Family

If the only thing God gave you was the forgiveness of sins, it would be proof enough that God loves you. But he’s gone so much gloriously further than that. God has also adopted you as his own beloved child.

Ephesians 1:4-5 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

God wasn’t content to simply forgive you. God loves you with such an intense affection that he wouldn’t rest until he brought you into his family. Now you are one of those called children of God. As God’s child, he loves to pour out blessing after blessing on you.

Being adopted by God changes everything. It is unmistakable proof of the deep love of God for you.

  1. Jesus Loves You And He Is Praying For You

Who do you pray for most? It’s the people you deeply love, right? You pray for your children, your spouse, your parents, your close friends. You want God to do good to them and so you passionately intercede on their behalf.

Did you know that both Jesus and the Holy Spirit are praying to the Father for you? That’s how much love God has for you. Jesus and the Spirit are constantly asking the Father to do good to you and the Father takes great joy in answering their prayers.

Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

There are times when you’re weak, weary, and don’t even know what to pray, but the Holy Spirit himself intercedes for you. When your prayers are nothing more than groans, the Spirit pleads with the Father to give you exactly what you need, and the Father joyfully responds.

Why does the Holy Spirit pray for you? Because God loves you.

Romans 8:34 says, “Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.”

Just as the Holy Spirit prays for you, so Jesus also intercedes on your behalf. He prays that God would deliver you from the condemning accusations of Satan. He prays that God would keep you from evil. Just like Jesus prayed for his disciples, so Jesus is constantly praying for you.

Doesn’t that encourage you and warm your heart with affection for God?

  1. God Loves You And Is Faithful To You

How many times has God been faithful to you throughout your life? How many prayers has he answered? How many times has he protected you or kept you from making a stupid decision? How many times has he strengthened you when you were weak? Thousands upon thousands. Why? Because God is faithful to those he loves, and God loves you deeply.

Psalm 86:5 says, “For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.”

God’s love for you is steadfast. It’s a faithful, unshakable, immovable love. God was faithful to save you and he will continue to be faithful as he makes you into the image of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

This verse describes the profound depths of God’s faithful love toward you. He began a good work in you and you can be absolutely sure that he will also finish it.

Would God be faithful to you if he didn’t love you? Absolutely not. God is faithful to you because God loves you.

 The Ocean of God’s Love

Charles Spurgeon once said- “If a man could know that he was loved by all his fellowmen if he could have it for certain that he was loved by all the angels, yet these were but so many drops and all put together could not compare with the main ocean contained in the fact that “God loved us.”

Are you convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that God loves you? I hope you are.

When you know that God loves you, it frees you to follow him with joy and gladness. It allows you to throw off the chains of legalism and run hard after God, knowing that you’re his beloved child.

Don’t doubt God’s love any longer. Take to heart the glorious words of

1 John 3:1:See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
